These events, dedicated to professionals, administrators, and anyone directly or indirectly interested in life and activities in mountain areas, will feature scientific communicators and specialists with specific training and previous experience in the fields of plastic pollution, the circular economy, and prevention.

The aim is to raise awareness of the issue of plastic pollution in the mountains, its dynamics, consequences, possible prevention, and potential benefits, including economic ones.

The strategy

Plastic pollution is normally associated with the sea and urban areas, while very little research has been done on mountain areas, and what little there is has been limited to microplastics: it is generally believed that these areas are free of plastic pollution. This is incorrect.

Based on the experience gained in every habitat on the planet, from the Arctic to the Mediterranean, E.R.I. has developed a systemic action plan for the Alps, which have already been severely affected by climate change. Knowledge plays a fundamental role in this action plan, at every level and from every point of view: the causes, dynamics, consequences, our direct and indirect daily connection with the environment and the Alps in particular, the economic implications, and prevention are all subjects of education and training initiatives.

Environmental Education:
CleanA⅃ꟼ focuses its activities on educating and raising awareness among people, especially young people and professionals, about protecting the Alpine environment. Through educational programs in schools and workshops for professionals, CleanA⅃ꟼ is committed to spreading knowledge about sustainability, biodiversity, and preventing plastic pollution, helping to train new generations of mountain guardians.

Training for Professionals:
In addition to education in schools, CleanA⅃ꟼ offers specific training to professionals in the mountain sector, such as environmental hiking guides or mountain guides, tour operators and refuge managers, park staff, local administrators, etc. The aim is to provide practical tools to reduce human impact on the Alps, encourage environmentally responsible behavior, and promote sustainable tourism. These meetings or courses help to integrate sustainability into everyday activities, protecting the environment and maintaining a prosperous mountain economy.

Community involvement:
CleanA⅃ꟼ's training activities are not limited to individuals, but involve entire local communities. Working closely with residents and stakeholders, CleanA⅃ꟼ promotes practices that support land conservation and foster the resilience of Alpine communities. This collaboration aims to foster a culture of respect for the environment and find shared solutions for the protection of the mountains.

Challenges for Environmental Education

Environmental Ignorance:
Despite the importance of protecting the Alps, many people are unaware of the problems related to pollution and climate change affecting this fragile ecosystem. CleanA⅃ꟼ is committed to filling this gap by informing and raising awareness about the fundamental role that the Alps play in Europe's ecological, cultural, and economic well-being.

Resistance to Change:
Everyone can be resistant to changing their habits at first: it is a somewhat natural attitude. CleanA⅃ꟼ addresses this challenge through meetings, discussions, and programs aimed at demonstrating the concrete benefits of more sustainable practices, both for the environment and for the local economy, encouraging change without compromising traditions.

Impact of Climate Change:
Climate change poses an ongoing threat to the Alps, affecting the mountain ecosystem and its natural resources. CleanA⅃ꟼ integrates specific knowledge about climate change into its training, showing how individuals and communities can contribute to reducing their environmental impact and adapting to new conditions.

The Role of Collaboration and Awareness

Collaboration:
The success of CleanAlps' training and awareness-raising activities depends on collaboration between schools, local authorities, tourism institutions, and professionals in the mountain sector. Only by working together can we effectively protect the natural heritage of the Alps and ensure a sustainable future for the region.

Awareness and Action:
Promoting environmental awareness is the first step, but it is concrete action that leads to lasting change. CleanA⅃ꟼ inspires its participants to put what they learn into practice, from cleanup excursions to efforts to reduce plastic use in their daily lives. Only through collective commitment can we safeguard the alpine environment for future generations.

CleanA⅃ꟼ invites everyone to join in this educational mission, working together to protect the beauty and biodiversity of the Alps. Protecting nature is not only a duty, but an investment in the future of our planet.

Let's preserve nature together
